What do readers pay?
Your account is free. Free classics remain free; paid editions are purchased once and include their reading modes and downloads. Optional personal narration is $2.99 per book where offered. Existing narration access is retained.
Is there really no monthly fee?
None. There used to be Creator and Pro tiers, but we collapsed everything into one free plan. A free reader account opens your library. Enable Publisher Studio when you want to create books.
How does the platform fee work?
The platform fee is 20% of the book price for ebooks and 25% for interactive editions. The rest transfers to your connected Stripe account. BoingyBooks pays payment processing from its platform share; refunds and any applicable connected-account fees are separate.
What are AI credits used for?
AI book preparation and narration use credits. Each operation shows its cost before it starts. Uploading and reading a standard ebook does not require a reader subscription. You get 200 free credits when you open Publisher Studio.
Can I sell on the marketplace right away?
Prepare your book and pass the publication checks. Free books can be listed without Stripe; complete Stripe onboarding before listing paid editions.
What happens to existing Creator / Pro subscribers?
Existing subscribers are grandfathered as Founders and keep the full feature set with a monthly credit allowance.
